Compare the2025 Toyota Crown SigniaVS 2024 Lexus NX

2025 Toyota Crown Signia
2024 Lexus NX

Safety

The Crown Signia has standard Whiplash Injury Lessening Seats, which use a specially designed seat to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Whiplash Injury Lessening Seats system allows the backrest to travel backwards to cushion the occupants and the headrests move forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The NX doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The Crown Signia has a standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The NX doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Crown Signia. But it costs extra on the NX.

Both the Crown Signia and the NX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

Warranty

Toyota pays for scheduled maintenance on the Crown Signia for 1 year and 15000 miles longer than Lexus pays for maintenance for the NX (2/25000 vs. 1/10,000).

There are over 5 times as many Toyota dealers as there are Lexus dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Crown Signia’s warranty.

Reliability

The battery on the Crown Signia is in the trunk, which protects it from hot underhood temperatures that can degrade battery life. By keeping the Crown Signia’s battery 20 to 30 degrees cooler, its life is increased by years. The NX’s battery is in the hot engine compartment.

Engine

The Crown Signia’s 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid produces 37 more horsepower (240 vs. 203) than the NX 250’s standard 2.5 DOHC 4-cylinder.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Crown Signia gets better mileage than the NX running its gasoline engine:

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Toyota Crown Signia uses regular unleaded gasoline. The NX 350 requires premium, which can cost on average about 82.8 cents more per gallon.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Crown Signia XLE’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the NX (255/55R19 vs. 235/60R18).

The Crown Signia XLE’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 55 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the NX’s standard 60 series tires. The Crown Signia Limited’s tires have a lower 45 series profile than the NX’s optional 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Crown Signia XLE has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the NX. The Crown Signia Limited’s 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the NX.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Crown Signia’s wheelbase is 6.3 inches longer than on the NX (112.2 inches vs. 105.9 inches).

The Crown Signia Limited handles at .82 G’s, while the NX 350 AWD pulls only .81 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

Passenger Space

The Crown Signia has .8 inches more front headroom, 1.1 inches more front legroom, .7 inches more front shoulder room, .4 inches more rear headroom, 1 inch more rear legroom and 1 inch more rear shoulder room than the NX.

Cargo Capacity

The Crown Signia has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the NX with its rear seat up (25.8 vs. 22.7 cubic feet). The Crown Signia has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the NX with its rear seat folded (68.8 vs. 46.9 cubic feet).

Towing

The Crown Signia’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the NX’s (2700 vs. 0 pounds).

Ergonomics

The Crown Signia’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the NX.

The power windows standard on both the Crown Signia and the NX have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the Crown Signia is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The NX prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

The Crown Signia’s standard speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The NX’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

The Crown Signia has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the NX.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Toyota Crown Signia has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the NX.
