Safety

The Supra’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the Mercedes AMG GT.

Both the Supra and the Mercedes AMG GT have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors, available blind spot warning systems, rear parking sensors and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

Toyota’s powertrain warranty covers the Supra 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Mercedes covers the AMG GT. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Mercedes AMG GT ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Toyota pays for scheduled maintenance on the Supra for 2 years and 25000 miles. Toyota will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Mercedes doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the AMG GT.

There are over 3 times as many Toyota dealers as there are Mercedes dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Supra’s warranty.

Suspension and Handling

The Supra’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (51.5% to 48.5%) than the Mercedes AMG GT’s (54% to 46%). This gives the Supra more stable handling and braking.

The Supra 3.0 Premium handles at 1.07 G’s, while the Mercedes AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ pulls only 1.05 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Supra’s turning circle is 7.1 feet tighter than the Mercedes AMG GT’s (34.1 feet vs. 41.2 feet).

Chassis

The Toyota Supra may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 950 to 1150 pounds less than the Mercedes AMG GT.
